Comments On Win Over Vols
Hot damn, this is the greatest! Man, I knew we could do it. There was never any doubt in my mind. We really put it to them. This has just been a super, fantastic year. Just super. I love every minute of it.
Dave Fradrowski Sophomore linebacker
I feel great now. You know, I wasn't really worried coming down here because I was trying to psyche myself up, I was going to come out talking and talk to my opponent the whole game. The first half, I was talking so much that I got tired out there and I got them (the Vols) mad at me but I never threw no punches back or nothing like that. If you looked at us individually, at the first of the season, I thought we were good but I never dreamed we would come along this far. We knew we had a lot of things against us last year and we knew we had to come back and prove it to the people as well as prove it to us and the coaches. We worked hard all summer and everybody lifted weights and did a lot of running and we got some good freshmen in, and (Richard) Jaffe replaced me when I was hurt and did a terrific job, in fact they didn't hardlv miss me. Man, it just feels great right now. We're going to a bowl.
Jerry Blanton Junior Nose Guard
It feels real good, going to the Peach Bowl, being 7-4 and beating Tennessee. It's really great. Up there in Ohio, Ohio State goes to the Rose Bowl about every year, but this year we're going to a bowl. I think it's been a great year, both for me and the club and today was a great victory, it was a great team victory, just like it has been all year. We're going to keep playing as a team, going to the Peach Bowl and hope we can win one more game this year. We broke two records today, one we ended Tennessee's eleven year win streak and we won on the road. We look forward to the Peach Bowl now. We have a great future.
Rod Stewart Sophomore Fullback
It's just great. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world, just to beat them. Every since I've been here, we've had tough breaks against Tennessee but today it was different. I think we beat them in every phase of the game. We had complete control of them and the punt coverage was great. I'm very glad I came to Kentucky. I figured we would stop them after the first period. The defense had control and their offense wasn't clicking. They seemed like they weren't playing together or something. But I think our defense had something to do with that. It's just a great feeling to beat Tennessee.
