SEC ROUNDUP
One Down And Three To Go In Bowl Games This Week
Birmingham, Ala. (Sp.) - It's one down and three to go for the Southeastern Conference bowl teams after Alabama smashed UCLA in the Liberty at Memphis Monday night, 36-6.
Next up is Kentucky, facing North Carolina in Atlanta's Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day Georgia takes on the nation's top-ranked team, Pittsburgh, in the Sugar Bowl classic before a Superdome sellout in New Orleans. Then Florida tackles Texas A&M the day after New Year's in the Sun Bowl at El Paso. All three plan to emulate the Tide victory.
The Crimson Tide crushed the Pac-8 Bruins with a combination of outstanding defense and alert offense. Bama carried the fight to UCLA from the opening kick-off and scored 17 points in the first quarter. They scored in every quarter to total 36 while shutting out the Bruins until the fourth period when the count was 30- From the line of scrimmage, UCLA outgained Bama 380 yards to 372, but the Tide defense smothered them in TD territory.

Wildcat giants on defense are All-SEC end Art Still and LB Jim Kovach.
