- Biography / History
- Mabelle Van Meter (1868-1967) and Emma Van Meter (1857-1942) of Lexington, Kentucky, were the children of stock farmer Benjamin Franklin Van Meter (1834-1927) and Amelia Clay Lewis Van Meter (1836-1921). Mabelle Van Meter never married. Emma Van Meter married Archibald Logan Hamilton in 1877.
- Scope and Content
- The Van Meter family recipe book and autograph albums (dated 1845-1913; 0.23 cubic feet; 1 box) consists of a recipe book, three autograph albums, a census book, and a pamphlet. Mabelle Van Meter, who remained unmarried during her life, kept the handwritten recipe book. The three autograph albums belonged to Emma Van Meter, Amelia Servis, and Mattie Pettit. Additionally, the collection contains a census book for Stanford, Kentucky, from 1896, and a Legion of Honor pamphlet.
