Collection Overview

Biography / History
The Northern Bank of Kentucky (1835-1899), chartered by Kentucky in February 1835, purchased the Lexington Branch of the United States Bank. They operated out of the original United States Bank building in Lexington on the corner of Short and Market Streets until 1899. The bank was the largest in Lexington during the 19th century and operated branches in Richmond, Paris, Louisville, Covington, Barbourville, and Glasgow.
