We welcome as voting allies all believers in

people, regardless of their opinions or affiliations
upon any and'v'ith every other question in which
they may be interested, but we are not ourselves
a political party, nor do we owe allegiance to
any political or partisan organization whatso—
ever. We believe in the inherent right of self~
government for every"law-abiding citizen; and
we are seeking freedom for ourselves that we may
become men’s legal coadjutors in the formation of
a government of all the people, for all the people
and by all the people. The mother half of all
the people is rated in law with idiots, insane
persons and criminals, from whose legal classifi-
cation we are looking to you, voters of Oregon.
to release us, your wives, mothers, sisters, daugh-
ters and sweethearts. at the June election 1908.
thus leaving us free to choose for ourselves at
every succeeding election, as to whether or not
we shall avail ourselves of the opportunities
which we know it is your duty, and ought to be
your pride, to extend to us of your own volition.
without waiting for the initiativefio come from
us.

 June 1, 1908.
Dear Sir :-

Since you attended the National
Republican Convention four years ago in
Chicago, many countries have been moving
towards the extension of full suffrage
rights to women-

Finland and Norwayhavecompleted
women's enfranchisement. Sweden. Denmark,
Natal in South Africa, Russia, Queensland,

Cape Colony, and Oklahoma have extended
important suffrage rights towomen. Even

before this, women had enjoyed full suffrage
iJIWyoming. Colorado, Utah, Idaho, New Zea-
land, Tasmania, Isle of Man, and through—
out thenwst of Australia; municipal suf-
frage in the British Isles, Kansas, Sweden,
Iceland, and British America, and smaller
fragments of suffrage in some thirty other
States and countries.

This movement in the United
States for the enfranchisement of women
would be helped greatly if the National
Republican Convention would pass a resolu—

tion something like the one noted below.
May we depend upon your help in securing
the passage of such a resolution, if you
believe the women of the United States
should be honored as are thewomenof these

other countries?
Yours truly,

RESOLUTION.

The patriotism, industry and in—
telligence of the women(M?ournation should
win for them full enfranchisement. We ap-
prove the submission by Congress to the
various State Legislatures of an amend-
ment to the United States Constitution for—
bidding the disfranchisement of United
States citizens on account of sex.

announces as follows:

i

We welcome as votingr allies all believers in
the fundamental principles of liberty for all the
people. regardless of their opinions or affiliations
upon any and with every other question in which
they may be interested, but we are not ourselves
a political party, nor do we owe allegiance to
any political or partisan organization whatso—
ever. We believe in the inherent right of self-
government for every law-abiding citizen; and
we are seeking freedom for ourselves that we may
become men’s legal coadjutors in the formation of
a government of all the people, for all the people
and by all the people. The mother half of all
the people is rated in law with idiots, insane
persons and criminals, from whose legal classifi-
cation we are looking to you, voters of Oregon.
to release us, your wives, mothers, sisters, daugh-
ters and sweethearts. at the June election 1908,
thus leaving us free to choose for ourselves at
every succeeding election, as to whether or not
we shall avail ourselves of the opportunities
which we know it is your duty, and ought to be
your pride, to extend to us of your own volition,
without waiting for the initiative to come from
us.

ABIGAIL SCOTT DUNIWAY,
President.
