Mr. Jo. M. Davidson,
Prestonsburg, Ky.
Dear Sir:
In reference to insurance on building owned by Zebulon
Lodge beg to advise that I have submitted it not only to several
of my companies that might possibly consider it but to the most
liberal companies represented in the other agencies in both
Catlettsburg and Ashland and they have been unanimous in rejecting
it.
A frame building occupied by a Moving Picture
business is never considered desirable business even tho the wiriq;
and the booth are standard and in this risk the wiring is defective
in every particular and the booth.not standard and I would suggest
that if the Lodge can possibly get name other tenant it would be to
their advantage.
Yours very truly,

Dear Sir:-
Replying to yours of the 22nd, regarding the water power
development in southern California, we are afraid that this is too far
away from our base to enable us to be of any practical assistance to you.
If you can give us some more information regarding what you
have we may be able to put you in touch with some one who can help you some.
Yours very truly,
I

Maysville, Ky., Sept. 2), 1916,

Mr. N. W. White, Jr.,

Prestonshurg, Ky.

Dear Bud:

Your letter just received. It is interesting to
note the conditions in your letter, in reference to how your
family feel, and also of that of Vr. Asa Pieratt, in regard to
hoarding my horse in Vt. Sterling, for which he charged me
full price for supposed food and care, which the horse did not
re C P, 11.79 .

When I sent to Mt. Sterling for my horse, I enclosed
check for the full amOunt due ”r. Pieratt for the horse's
hoard. When the boy hrought my horse to me, it took twice
as long to bring him, as it would have if the horse had been
in good condition. He was very thin, so much so that he could
hardly walk, also very sick, and covered with long hair, and
l~oked so hadflly that I hardly knew him.

It was quite a shock and surprise to me, after ”r.
Pieratt had charged me fifty cents per day to keep my horse
in good shape, to find him in this condition. I at once call-
ed a veterinary surgeon, also consulted the livermmnn here,
and both told me that my horse had not keen curried nor teen
in a barn for, at least, six weeks, and that they doubted if
the horse would live.

The boy, who brought the horse here, gave me a lrtier

' from Mr. Pieratt, stating that the cause of the condition of
horse was due to the fact that Mr. Floyd Clay had come to his
stable six weeks refore that, and had taken the horse out, and
had not returned him until a few days before I sent for him, ano
that his condition was due to treatment from Tr. Clay, and not
from neglect on his part.

I immediately wrote Mr. Clay a letter, explaining
what Mr. Pieratt had written me. This was in March that the
horse was brought to me. Mr. Clay wrote me that in January
Court he did have the horse for two days, trying to sell him
for me, hut that he was in such a thin condition, and not
well curried, and had lacked food, that he was unable to make
the sale, and returned him to Mr. Pieratt. _ He also told me
that ”r. Pieratt denied writing me a letter in regard to the
horse.

Upon further investigation I was informed by Mt.
Sterling people that Mr. Pieratt had kept my horse in a field
in the country, instead of in his stahle, and that the boy
who went after him, had to wait for them to get him in, before
he could bring the horse to Vaysville,

After keeping him here for several weeks, he got a
little better; we got him polished up some, ther I practically
gave him away, so that I would not have to hoard him.

Mr. Clay was over here a few days after he had talked to Mr.
Pieratt. I presented to him Kr. Pierat+'s letter, that he
had denied writing me. It would have Icon very interesting
for you to have heard what ur. Clay had to say alout Ur.
Pieratt. When he went back to Vt. Stprling, he at once
looked up ”r. Pieratt, and gave him a good cussing, as he so
informed me.

It is my intention to par Hr. Pieratt tLe amount I
owe him for nwglected care of my horse, but I thought I would
lefi him sweat awhile. Mr. Pieratt caused me to lose about
$125.00 on account of lack of a‘fiention on his part for my
horse, but I will pay him within the next few weeks, on account
of the relationship of the family.

While you are so interested in Masonry and the
