Mr. Josqah D. Harkins,
' Prestonburg, Ky.
Dwrsn:
As per your request over long distance this morning '
‘ we are herewith enclosing copy of telegram sent to us tnday by

A. H. Lockettcf W. P. Bonbright & Co.

His telegram may be divided into several different

parts. First, he suggests Johnson & Huntley, Pittsburg, Pa.,
‘ as his choice for the engineer to examine the property. He
7 then states they will probably require a month or six weeks to
prepare the report and further that the cost would be about
@5,000.00 and expenses.

As to Johnson & Huntley, Mr. Joseph Lorton, advises
us that he thinks that they would be a good choice and that he
considers this firm quite high class.

As to the time, we belhsve a month to six weeks rather
too much time to be consumed 3; making the report, and we believe
that it could be made in at least a weeks time.

As to the cost, we believe that Johnson & Huntley should
make this report for the same amount that they agreed to make it

, for the City of Louisville, namely 9500.00 and expenses. It might
be that Bonbright & Co., will require a more thorough investigation
and a fuller report, and for this reason it may be that a $1,000.00
\ and expenses would be nearer right. I

 _.2-

After considering the matter of asking Bonbirght as
to whether Mr. Mc Closky would be satisfactory to them, we
deemed it best not to ask this question for two reasons, first,
they make it plain that they will want an engineer of their own
choice to make the examination, and second, it would consume
time which is very valuable to the welfare of the prepostiion.
We therefore sent a wire, a cepy of which we harewith enclose.
As soon as we receive an answer we will call you by telephone.

The first point in his wire is in regard to the price
which the contract calls for the delivery of Gas. I don't think
that we need worry about this at the moment as they would be
more than apt to be able to make this change, and any change that
would be made would of course be to our advantage. My idea is
that they want to make this change in order that the Common Stock
will show earning power sooner thqn it would unner the present
contract.

The cost ; ‘iifir 1n,'r~tion should rightly be as-
sumed by the owners of the prOperty as it is up to them to
prove the worth of their pr0perty, and I presume that they will
of course be willing to do this.

Very tru yours, 7 I' r 'f \
