KENTUCKY GOOD ROADS ASSOCIATION
‘ Phoenix Hotel
Lexington, Jan. 28, 1924
' TO DISTRICT AND COUNTY CHAIRHEK:
Our Directors advise that it is highly important that funds be raised
at once if the work of the organization is to be carried out, and I am
directed to write and state that the Association has reached a crit-
ical stage and the necessity for funds is imperative.
The expenses of publicity and the work done by our forces in the dis-
semination of information, to date, has been borne by the business
and professional men of Lexington and Louisville. It is absolutely nec-
essary that g4,000 or $5,000 be riased at once for immediate use.
You are earnestly requested to open a drive in your district and sdunt
county and secure the amount mentioned in the accompaneying persoal
letter, and send check to this office, made payable to this Associa—
tion. A crisis is at hand, and if we fail to receive the necessary
funds, the plans and work of the organization will be seriously crip—
pled, if it does'nt put us out of the running, and should its efforts
grow lax at brunkfort during the sitting of the Legislature, it is
probable thet no bond issue bill will be enacted by that body, for
which this Association has fought for strenuously for past several
months.
We hope you ready grasp and understand the seriousness of the situa—
tion and proceed quickly to raise the amount mentioned in the accom—
paneying letter. The amount you remit us will be credited to your
county's quota.
But for the sums raised and contributed aby the two above named cities
to aid us in the campaign, our organization could not have continued
to exist. Nothing, in the way of funds, has been contributed by Eastern
Kentucky, and we are looking your way for assistance in continuing
the movement for better and greater things, and fondly hope we will
not be disappointd in our expectations.
Blease let us hear from you at the earliest possible moment, and
that you have started the drive, and greatly oblige
Yours for A GREATER KENTUCKY
