During the next few weeks the whole State of ‘\V
Kentucky will be orgatdzed to Carry throu;h a simlltaneous
and intensive camyaign for ”unds with which to purchase the
Mammoth Cave National lark area.

I have been appointed Chairman of the State
Campaign Executive Committee, and have accepted because, as
you will understand when the facts are fully presented to you,
that no man With the right kind of feeling for his Jtate could
afford tot to aoce;t. I blow that when the facts are kszn to
you, regardless of all other considerations, yon will take the
sane attitude. Presuming your public spirit and patriotism
I have apyointed ;ou on the Tloyd Codnty Executive Com ittee,
and in doing so I am not unmindful of ;oar past sacrifices for
the good of the State.

we simply cannot afford not to meet the reason-
able conditions of the Federal Government.

The duties imgosed uVon you will he easy of ger-
fornence, and yovr cooperation and influence will qo far toward
assuring the succexs of the most important project in the history
of our State.

You will be notified by Regional Chairman, Judge
F. R. Dysard of a conference to be held at Ashland on Friday,
January 20th, at the ventura Fotel, at 12:13 o'clock.

I sincerely hope that you will make a special
effort to attend so that vemay complete our plans for organi—
zation as quickly as possible.

ing Hon. H. H. Ramey, of Salyersville,
as a suitable person to succeed Judge
Wheeler, resigned, as Commissioner of
the Court of Appeals, came in due
course for which I thank you.
as I am not a member of the Court, I
have nothing at all to do with the ap-
pointment although I realize that Mr.
Ramey would make a splendid official.
The Commissioners of the Court of Ap-
peals are selected by the seven Judges
of that Court.
