Biography / History
Soldier. McCord, a native of Richmond, Indiana, was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Tenth Regiment of Kentucky Cavalry of the Union Army in 1862. He was discharged after a year of service.
Scope and Content
These are microfilmed records pertaining to George L. McCord's Civil War service. Among the filmed papers are McCord's commission, discharge, and pension records. There are also copies of fragmented pages from his regiment's muster roll. Other materials include two photographs of Union veterans celebrating Decoration Day in Mt. Olivet, Kentucky in 1908 and a handwritten sketch of McCord family history.
