Honors Day \
The University of Kentucky is most proud of those students who
excel in scholarship and is happy to give them public recognition.
The students who have been selected for special recognition on p
Honors Day are those whose cumulative academic standings rank in *
the highest three per cent of all regular students in each college of the
University.
In addition, on Honors Day there are awarded the Algernon Sydney {
Sullivan Medallions, one to a senior man and one to a senior woman.
These are perhaps the highest honors which the University can bestow V]
upon a student.

THE ALGERNON SYDNEY SULLIVAN MEDALLIONS
Sullivan Medallions are awarded each year to one man and one woman in ll
the graduating class, and to one other person who is not a student in the Univer-
sity. The awards are given by the New York Southern Society in memory of '
Algernon Sydney Sullivan, whose principal philanthropy was to assist young men
and women from the southern region to obtain an education and become worthy
leaders in our society.
The sole criterion of selection is “the possession of such characteristics of heart, {
mind, and conduct as evince a spirit of love for and helpfulness to other men and ’
Women.,) `Q
