- Lucy Humphrey Anderson, from Lexington, Ky. is married to M. W. Anderson, great grandson of Henry Clay. Her sister is Sarah Gibson Chenault. The following families are related to one another: the Humphreys (Joseph A.), the Chenaults and the Johnstones and the Alexanders. Lewis Johnstone, a prohibition candidate who ran for Congress against W.C.P. Breckenridge, was married to Lucy Alexander, a daughter of Joseph A. Humphreys.
- Scope and Content
- This is a microfilmed copy of a family scrapbook, kept by Lucy Chenault Anderson and others with material from 1879 through 1962. The volume, begun in 1896 by Lucy Alexander Humphreys Johnstone, contains mostly clippings about the activities of members of the Alexander, Anderson, Chenault, Hart, and Humphreys families of Central Kentucky. There are also photographs, sheet music, a telegram, and material from numerous educational institutions such as Culver Military Academy, and Henry Clay High School. The clippings come from the Lexington HERALD, LEADER, ARGONAUT and DAILY PRESS. There is material from the dedication of Ashland, the home of Henry Clay, as a memorial in 1950.
