Collection Overview

Biography / History
The J. E. Wilson Photographic Collection, 1900-1920 was donated by Allie McClanahan of Falmouth, Kentucky in 1956. Nothing else is known about the origins of the collection. Many of the images concern C. H. Lee Jr., a member of the 7th Kentucky Cavalry (CSA), Co. A and his participation in Confederate veterans reunions, including a (John Hunt) Morgan's Men reunion held in Estill Springs, Kentucky in 1924.
Scope and Content
The J. E. Wilson Photographic Collection, 1900-1920 consists of 96 photographic items. A cartes de visite photographic album presented 82 of the images, mostly albumen prints, but with ferrotypes (tintypes) distributed throughout. The album contains no indications of ownership, but presents images of members of the Wigglesworth, Cox, and Reeder families of Central Kentucky. Of the loose items, black and white gelatin developing-out prints (DOP) predominate, but item #96 is a large format (8x10) ferrotype (tintype.)
