5. Freshman and sophomore band students, in ROTC, should

6. Not to exceed 7% of students eligible for work

7. While the band is not directly under the control of the
Military Department, it will nevertheless function as a military
organization at ceremonies, and should therefore be trained with this
in View.

8. While at formations, drills, ceremonies, and marches with
the ROTC regiment or any part thereof of the band will be under the
control and subject to the orders and discipline of the Military
Department

Outside Instruct 3_ i_ Applied Music

Instructors in Applied Music who are not connected otherwise
with the department of music must be approved by the President upon
recommendation of the Head of the Music Department and the Dean of
the College of Arts and Sciences.

The followin recommendations of the Rules Committee were approved:
8 -i

1. Permission for formal social functions will be granted only
to fraternities and other social organizations which meet their financial
obligations promptly and make financial reports to the University if such
reports are required under the University rules. Fraternities and other
organizations that neglect these obligations will be refused such perm
mission until sufficient time has elapsed (at least one year) for the
organization to have regained a satisfactory financial status.

2. All inviations to the principal social functions (house dances
excepted), given by fraternities and other organizations, shall be issued
under the regulations agreed upon by the Social Committees of the Women’s
Administrative Council, the Men's Student Council, and the Faculty
Social Committee. ‘

3. All contracts for renting and purchasing fraternity and other
club houses, and proposed locations of such houses, must be submitted to
a faculty committee for approval before any contract is closed. The
faculty committee shall consist of the Business Agent, the Superintendent
of Buildings and Grounds, the Dean of the College of Law, and Dean of Men
and the Dean of Women.

4. Senigp Classification

A student who has a standing of l or more and who is allowed to carry
Sufficient work to complete his requirements for graduation by the close
of the summer session, is classified as a senior for the current year.

5. Excuses for Absences Make first sentence to read:

Permission for absences from classes must be obtained from the Dean
of the College in which the student is registered or from the

University
