Biography / History
Jean Ritchie, a 1946 graduate of the University of Kentucky, wrote Singing Family of the Cumberlands about her maternal grandfather and his fourteen children living in Viper, Kentucky in the Cumberland Mountains.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of a typescript, including corrections, of Ritchie's book Singing Family of the Cumberlands, as well as the book's jacket, a pencil drawing of an illustration for the book, and clippings of book reviews and articles about Ritchie.
