- Biography / History
- Socially Concerned Students (S.C.S.) was a University of Kentucky organization composed of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to a better society. Founded in the sociology department, S.C.S., addressed the issues and problems which faced society during the 1980s and early 1990s. Whether the issues were campus oriented, local, state, national, or international, S.C.S. was involved and often in cooperation with other organization and agencies.
- Scope and Content
- The Socially Concerned Students papers consists of two scrapbooks primarily consisting of newspaper articles, but also brochures, fliers, and other papers that pertain to activities the student group created. Topics include brown bag forums promoting rape prevention, battling crime, protests against U.S. involvement in overseas wars, etc. Volume 1 has been maintained in its bound form and Volume 2 has been taken apart for preservation purposes and copies have been made.
