- Clergyman. James Henry Taylor was born in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating from Yale University in 1894 and from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1897, Taylor served as pastor at churches in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Anchorage, Kentucky, and Macon, Georgia before accepting the pastorate of the Central Presbyterian Church in Washington, D. C. where he served from 1903 until 1943.
- Scope and Content
- These papers were apparently removed from a scrapbook which contained programs, invitations, announcements and other materials gathered by the Reverend James Henry Taylor during his years as a Presbyterian minister in Kentucky. There are programs about concerts by the Musical Club of Louisville (1896 and 1897), information on the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs (1896), and the Kentucky Chautaugua (1896). Also included are various wedding invitations and announcements, school programs, and meeting notices.
