- _ ABOUT THE LIBRARIES
HOLIDAY MAIL SERVICE
There will be no University mail delivery to individual units December 22-
January 1. During this period, Administrative Services will pick up the mail '
from the Central Post Office and make one mail delivery each day during the
days we are open. '
Regular mail delivery will resume January 2; however, for the days January 2-4,
the University will give only one mail delivery per day, so the Library will
only deliver mail once on those days. The twice daily University and Library
deliveries will resume Monday, January 7.
There will be no truck run December 24-January 1. The tnuck run resumes
· January 2.
V G SECOND CALL FOR OCCASIONAL PAPERS
The University of Kentucky Libraries will issue an irregular publication called
I "University of Kentucky Libraries Occasional Papers." The first issue is planned
for early spring,l980. Manuscripts for inclusion in this series are invited. To
A be considered for the first issue, papers should be completed by February 15, 1980.
. "Occasional Papers" will deal with any phase of librarianship and is a channel
through which librarians, library staff, library school faculty and students may
communicate their research results on aspects of University of Kentucky library
operations, collections, etc. Papers should demonstrate knowledge of the litera-
V ture on the subject, where appropriate. Descriptive papers, annotated bibliogra-
phies and other topics of interest*to the library com unity will be considered if
V of sufficient interest or usefulness.
Manuscripts should be typed, double-spaced and generally not longer than thirty
· pages, including footnotes and bibliography. Send to Vivian Hall, Geology

. The University of Chicago Graduate Library School is offering scholarship and
work/study appointments for the academ$c_year 1980/81 for study leading to M.A.
° and Ph.D. degrees and certificates of advanced study. Applications must be re-

SKILLS TRANING AT UK
A training program for electrician helper, carpenter helper, electronics tech-

’ y SELF DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR
On Tuesday, February 19th, 1980, the Staff Development Committee
V will sponsor a one and one half hour seminar on "Self Development" in the
Special Collection Solarium. Dr. Timothy Sineath, Dean of the College of
Library Science will conduct the seminar. His presentation includes a test
on which you rate yourself on your concern for tasks, people, satisfaction
and security; your conventional, approval, oppositional and power styles;
your competitive achievement, humanistic . . . styles. The results of the
test will tell us how we see ourselves, how others may see us and how we
expend our energies.
_ The test is expensive, however, there will not be a fee for the seminar
as costs will be paid for by the Library and the Staff Development Committee.
In order for the Committee to order an adequate number of tests, we
must know how many plan to attend. If you plan to attend the seminar, please
