MINUTES OF TEE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, June 1st, 1886 - page 55



     Board of Trustees of the Agricultural and Mechanical
Colleges of Kentucky met in Judge Kinkead's office June
1st,  1886, at 2-1/2 P. M.

                         W. D. Nicholas
                         J. M. Unthank
                         L. J. Bradford
                         R. A. Spurr
                         Philip Bird
                         R. J. Spurr
                         Jas. K. Patterson, Asst. secretary



     Trustees R. A. Spurr and W. D. Nicholas took the oath
of office administered by Judge W. B. Kinkead.



     Major R. S. Bullock whose term of office as Trustee.
expires today presented his report as Treasurer. This report
was referred to J. M. Unthank and Philip Bird, to audit and
report.



     The President of the College was then called upon for
his report. His report with those of the Professors and other
officers was read. The report of Professor Scovell, director
of the Experiment Station was referred to a committee consist-
ing of D. C. Buell, Philip Bird and Dr. R. J. Spurr.



     The Board then proceeded to elect an Executive Committee
for the coming year. Said committee was elected as follows:

    Col. L. J. Bradford was then elected Secretary of the
Board of Trustees, and aas. K. Patterson assistant secretary
of the Board and secretary of the Executive Committee.



    The following named Trustees were appointed as Board
of Visitors Viz:

                         D. C. Buell,   Chairman
                         J. D. Clardy
                         L. J. Bradford
                         Philip Bird
                         R. J. Spmrr

     this committee is directed to visit the Colleges in the
autumn to investigate the conduct of the several departments,
to note defects, suggest improvements and to report the re-
sult of their investigation and observations to the Executive
Committee.

     They are also directed to visit the college at least
one week before the close of the academic year to be present
at the final examinations and to report thereon to the Board
of Trustees. All matters to be presented to the Board of
Trustees by the Faculty are to be previously submitted to
the Board of Visitors. This will include Reports and
recommendations of Professors and members of the Board
so far as practicable.


    The time for the Autumn visitation was subsequently
fixed for the 13th, of October.

    Genfl. Buell was appointed a committee to visit the
college after the beginning of the fall term in order to
examine the Military discipline of the dormitory and the
Military department generally.



    Trustees Unthank and Bird announced their readiness to
report on the report of Ex Treasurer R. S. Bullock. Their
report was as follows: viz:

     " We have examined the report of the Treasurer and find
that expenditures correspond in every respect with vouchers."



     W. D. Nicholas was then elected Treasurer.



     The Board then adjourned to meet tomorrow June 2nd,
at 3 P. M.


     Board of Trustees met in Judge Kinkeads office at 3-1/2
P. M. June 2.

adopted.
