- Author Charles House was born in 1943 in eastern Kentucky and obtained a BA in art from Eastern Kentucky University. His book titles include The Outrageous Life of Henry Faulkner (1988), Sailing on Down the Pike (2007), Blame it on Salt (2007), One With the Fox (2011), and Heroes and Skalliwags (2010).
- Poet and artist Henry Faulkner (1924-1981) was born in Egypt, Jackson County, Kentucky and studied at the Louisville School of Art. An ardent animal lover (especially goats and cats) and avid collector of antiques, he lived in both Lexington, Kentucky, and Florida Keys, Florida. Additionally, he exhibited regularly in New York, Ohio, and Florida. He met Tennessee Williams in 1959 and became life-long friends as well as, possibly, lovers. Faulkner died in Lexington as the result of an automobile accident on December 3, 1981.

- The Charles House Collection on Henry Faulkner (dated 1948-1980, undated; .85 cubic feet; 1 document box and 1 flat box), comprises materials gathered by House in the course of writing his biography on Faulkner. Documents include correspondence to and from Henry Faulkner and James Leo Herlihy, 1979-1980 (including questions posed by Herlihy and answers by Faulkner); other letters from Faulkner to friends and family; 13 pencil or pen sketches or studies of figures; 6 small tempera paintings of structures; original handwritten poetry and photocopies of typed poetry; notes, lists, and receipts; and a book, The Green Wave, 1948, by Muriel Rukeyser, with annotations and underlines by Faulkner.
