- Biography / History
- Merchant, manufacturer, financier. John Wesley Hunt came to Lexington, Kentucky, from Trenton, New Jersey in 1795. He opened a general store, and later became a wholesale trader in cotton, tobacco, saltpeter, and especially hemp. He was also involved in horse breeding and banking. Among Hunt's descendants were the Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, and the Nobel prize-winning biologist, Thomas Hunt Morgan.

- This is a daybook for part of 1796 which apparently belonged to John Wesley Hunt. The accounts may be those of Hunt's general store in Lexington, Ky.
