Collection Overview

Biography / History
Ruby Dell Baugher (1891-1982), a native of Spring Grove, Kentucky, was an author and poet. She graduated from Georgetown College in 1925, previously she attended Bowling Green College and taught high school. An invalid since a failed kidney operation in 1929, Baugher wrote poetry to support herself. Her career spanned fifty years and produced over twenty history books and novels. Her works include the poem "Sunrise" and the history book Kentucky Yesterday and Today.

Scope and Content
The collection consists of a letter from Ruby Dell Baugher to Mr. Henry H. Hornsby of the Lexington Sunday Herald-Leader thanking him for praising her poem "Listening Hills". In the letter she says that her first novel has been accepted for publication by Hobson Book Press.
