Biography / History
Sculptor. Joel T. Hart was a native of Clark County, Ky. He won fame for sculpting likenesses of Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, and Cassius M. Clay, among many others. He is also known for the pieces "Woman Triumphant" and "Angelina." Hart lived in Florence, Italy the last thirty years of his life. He died in 1877, and his body was reinterred in Frankfort, Ky. in 1885.
Scope and Content
This is a photostatic copy of a scrapbook of clippings about Joel T. Hart, which was kept by Mrs. Strother D. Mitchell. It includes copies of Hart's obituary, articles on the reinterment in Frankfort, and articles about his career as a sculptor. The copy was made in 1950 by P. Warren.
