Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- Bradley Picklesimer, from eastern Kentucky, opened Club au Go Go on Winchester Road, in 1980, a bar welcoming of the Lexington gay/lesbian and underground music scenes. By the mid-1980's he opened his second bar on Main Street in downtown Lexington, Cafe LMNOP. The bar fostered an underground community in Lexington by hosting drag shows and new wave/punk music bands. Cafe LMNOP closed by the early 1990s.
- Manjushri V Bhapkar took photographs of queer friendly and other groups participating in or watching the Lexington Fourth of July Parade. They also took pictures of drag shows at Cafe LMNOP.
- Scope and Content
- The Manjushri V Bhapkar photographs of Cafe LMNOP and Fourth of July parade (circa 1985; 3.9 megabytes; 35 files) consist of thirty-five scanned photographs from 1984 or 1985 of or relating to Lexington's Cafe LMNOP. Most of the photographs are from the Fourth of July festivities in downtown Lexington.
