- William Whitehead was a wagon maker, who opened a blacksmith shop in 1845 in Frankfort, Kentucky.
- Scope and Content
- The William Whitehead account books record the sale of farm equipment in the blacksmith shop of William Whitehead in Frankfort, Kentucky. Materials consist of the daily records of payments received for farm implements and machinery. Also included are the accounts of individual customers and receipts of bills to be paid. In Volume 2, Whitehead records the opening of his store in September 1845 and the hiring of Elias Sanders for twenty dollars a month and William Sanders as an apprentice.
