Mr. O. M. Hardesty,
Stock Claim Agent, 1 & N R.Co.
Rummalw.
Dear Sir:-
. Replying to yours of the 25rd inst., in reference to
the claim of Dow Collins of Whitesburg, for two cows killed
November 22, 1915, and also in regard to claim of same party
for cow killed April 25th, 1916, I believe cm the face of the
_ report made by Engineer Gilson and Eiramsggwihat there is no liaf
bility for the two cows killed in the out near Whitesburg on
hovamber 22nd5 1915, hence if reasonable terms can:%: agreed uuon
for a settlement, I think this case should be contested with a
view of defeating it entirely. As to the claim for cow kilied
April 85th, 1916 and valued at $85.00, and a small hog killed '
~ at another time valued at $12.50, my judgment is that these two
items should be settled; if they can be settled separately from
the two cows killed in 1915. I think you should make the best
terms ynu csnjeVen if you have to go to the figures named by the
' plaintiff.
I am herewith returning the papers sent 16 with your letter.
Very resfiectf y. /W f/éfl/
