I A campus mailing was recently distributed inviting all faculty, staff
and students to a SOLINET open house and demonstration on October 22.
Due to space limitation, we are asking all library faculty and staff
who have seen terminal demonstrations not to attend. We hope to be
able to accomodate as many outside facHIEy and staff as possible.
Thank you,

University of Kentucky supervisors are eligible to attend the monthly
"supervisory luncheons", a group began by those trained in Basic
Principals of Supervisory Management. A series of films on supervi-
sory skills began in August and will continue through next sum er.

Each luncheon session deals with a separate facet of supervision.
For example, the September luncheon considered the area of communi-
cation, presenting two films: "Instruction Or Obstruction" and
"Listen Please".
The luncheons are held on the third Wednesday of each month in Blazer
Hall Cafeteria on Harrison Avenue from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. After lunch,
a film is viewed and a discussion session follows.
The next supervisory luncheon will be held on wednesday, October 15.
Mary Ada Sullivan will retire July 1, 1976 as head of the Newspaper/
Microtext Department; and the Personnel Committee is beginning to
search for someone who could fill this position. We hope to find
someone by January l, 1976 so that there will be some overlap.
Basically, the person needs to have an MLS from an accredited library
school plus experience with microforms and the related equipment.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. If anyone on the
staff is interested in being considered for the position, please
send me something in writing to that effect so that the Personnel
' Committee can consider internal candidates along with other
applications. If anyone would like to discuss the opening further,
please come by to see me.
