Mateer, Dr. Richard, A $490 grant from the Western Electric Fund will enable the University of Kentucky of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering to buy additional teaching equipment, Dr. Richard Mateer (right), chairman of the department, accepts the check from H.M. Spicer (center), New York, Vice President in charge of finances for the industrial concern, This is the first year Western Electic has awarded an equipment grant to the University of Kentucky but it provides a scholarship award annually to an engineering student, Dr. Mateer said the grant will be used to buy data recording apparatus which will be especially helpful to electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering students taking metallurgical service courses, from Public Relations Department
