Scope and Content
This collection contains a scrapbook of programs of concerts which took place in Lexington, Ky. from 1908 to 1952. Included are concert and theater programs of visiting artists who performed in Lexington, Ky. These programs, collected and assembled by Mary C. Walby, reveal the outstanding musicians who appeared in Lexington, including such artists as Sir Thomas Beecham, Pablo Casals, Percy Grainger, Vladimir Horowitz, Fritz Kreisler, Ignacy Paderewski, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Arthur Rubinstein and John Philip Sousa. Among the orchestras to visit Lexington were the Cleveland Symphony, Minneapolis Symphony, New York Symphony, Royal Philharmonic and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
