T` GREEN BEAN Number 576 July 13, 1990 DATA CONVERSION GRANT RECEIVED A Data Conversion Grant from the Kentucky Department for Libra- ries and Archives has been awarded to the Library. The grant is in the amount of $9,165 and is for the purpose of completing the state publications project. The conversion of these records will _ be done primarily by Gwen Curtis with the help of the GPD staff. (Submitted by Sandee McAninch.) ECONOMIC BULLETIN BOARD PILOT PROJECT The UK Library has been chosen to participate in the Economic Bulletin Board (EBB) pilot project being conducted by the Govern- ment Printing Office, in cooperation with the General Accounting Office and the Department of Commerce. The Economic Bulletin Board contains current economic and statistical information pub- lished by the Department of Commerce and other Federal agencies. The purpose of the pilot project is to study the implications of providing depository library access to government information in electronic format. From June 1, 1990 through the end of the calendar year, 100 depository library test sites will be allowed online access to the system. (Submitted by Sandee McAninch.) GPD REFERENCE TRAINING SCHEDULE Although the first two meetings of GPD reference training have already taken place, six more sessions are scheduled. The re- maining dates are July 17, 19, 20, 31, August 2, and 3. The sessions, which are held in the Gallery, include tours of Room 116, videotaped programs, and question/answer sessions. A wide variety of government reference publications are covered, includ- ing Congressional Record, U.S. Code, weekly Compilation of Presi- dential Documents, and Microfiche U.S. Bills Finding Aid.
