Dean Seay reported to the Faculty that Dr. Sanders wished to be excused
from serving as a member of the Student Government Association and mOVed that
Dean A. D. Kirwan be appointed to his place. The motion was seconded and adopted
by the Faculty.

Dean Seay presented to the Faculty a suggestion that the rule granting
credit in basic military science to veterans be amended, so as to include
Veterans who had seen service in the armed forces of our allies. The University
Faculty approved the amendment. so that the rule will now read:

"Credit in the required two years' basic course in military
science may be given for three months' service in the U. S. or Allied
Military or Naval forces. Candidates for such credit should submit
duly authenticated copies of their discharge papers to the Registrar's

OffiCe."

Dr. Chamberlain, Chairman of the cemmittee appointed to study the question
of convocations, made the following report for the COmmittee:

The Committee recommends that until enlarged auditorium facilities are

available all general day—time conVOCations calling for the dismissal of
Classes be abandoned, with the exception of the President's first-of—the year

convocation, the Founders' Day Convocation, and the Honors Day Convocation.

It is recommended also that themoney now available for the support of

the convocation program be utilized in financing college and departmental
programs. The committee would make it clear that these recommendations are k
designed to cover the temporary situation only. As soon as the Auditorium- '\
Field House is completed. efforts should be made to provide an artists-lechne T

series that will be broad in scope and of high quality.
