Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- The National Conference of Christians and Jews was founded in Connecticut in 1927 by activists in response to the anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic climate surrounding Al Smith's run for President of the United States. The group focused on promoting tolerance and cooperation between people of different races and religion. In 1998 the group changed its name to the National Conference for Community and Justice and broadened its mission to include social justice. The Bluegrass Chapter of the group was active in during the 1980s through the early 2000s.

- The National Conference of Christians and Jews videocassettes (dated 1983-2004, undated; 3.5 cubic feet; 91 items) consists of videocassettes and two audiocassettes of programs, dinners, other events presented on by the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Bluegrass Chapter. The collection also includes videocassettes of commercial and public television programs promoting tolerance, particularly religious and racial tolerance.
