Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- The Filter Center coordinated groups of volunteers whose duties were to report low flying planes or missiles which could not be spotted by radar. It was organized in 1950 as part of a national program. United States Air Force personnel supervised the operations.
- Scope and Content
- The Lexington Filter Center scrapbooks contain photographs of Air Force officers assigned to the Lexington center and instruction sheets with center procedures. There is also a historical sketch of the center by the scrapbook's compiler, Eleanor Parker Hopkins.
