Biography / History
The Transylvania Company was established to organize settlements and commerce within pioneer Kentucky.
Scope and Content
Included in this collection are legal documents, correspondence, receipts and a newspaper clipping dealing with a land dispute involving Richard Henderson and the Transylvania Company in Kentucky. Minutes of a meeting of the Transylvania Company held in Hillsboro, North Carolina in October, 1790 are present as are deeds, requests for deeds and correspondence concerning several parcels of land conveyed from the Cherokee Indians to Richard Henderson. The newspaper clipping (1796) concerns a lawsuit in which Michael Stoner is plaintiff and the executors of Richard Henderson are defendents.
