The Executiye Committee of the Board of Trustees, University of IKentucky, met in regular monthly session, at 8 o'clock, p. m., Tuesday, May 13, 1924 , in the office of Judge Richard C. Stoll, Lexington, Kentucky. The following members were present: Richard C. Stoll, H. M.. Froman, Rainey T. V;ells, Robert C. Gordon, end MIcHenry Rhoads. The following persons were also present: Frank L. M7cVey, President of the University; D. H. Peak, Acting Secretary; Thomas P. Cooper, Dean of the College of Agriculture; and W. C. Loan on Stadium. The matter of transfer of subscription pledges and cash on hand by the treasurer of the Stadium Fund was discussed and no action was taken by the Executive Committe, pending further action and adjustment by the Executive Committae of the Alumni Association. The acceptance by the Business Agent 6. of check for 10,00O. in.'part payment of amount due for advance payment made by the University on the Basket Ball Building was approved. 3. The Memorial Build ing. On motion, duly seconded, the following, resolutions regarding the ,Iemorial Building was passed and ordered to record: At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Crustees of the University of Kentucky, held on the 13 th day of May, 1924, at the Administration Building of the Uni- versity, in Lexington, Kentucky, the following resolution was moved, seconded and adopted: WHEREAS, many Kentuckians gave their services and their lives in behalf of their country in the late war with Ger- many; and, iHERIEAS, it seems proper and fitting that some memorial should be erected to perpetuate the memory of their patriotism and sacrifices; and, WHEREAS, in 1919 it was proposed to the Executive Com- mittee and the Board of Trustees of the University of Ken- tucky that such a memorial should be erected;.and that the University of Kentucky should donate and dedicate a site upon the campus of the University for the location and erec- tion of a suitable memorial building, which could be used for student purposes; and, WHEREAS, a Committee was selected and authorized to raise subscriptions from different sources for the purpose of such memorial; end said Committee, relying upon the proposition of the University to donate a site for such structure, did employ certain persons, incur certain ob- ligations, and pay out considerable sums of money in con- nection with said enterprise, and as a result have secured subscriptions to a large amount, a considerable portion of which has been paid in cash to the Dommittee; and, HELREAS, it is now the desire to take further steps and action towards the erection of such memorial building and the securing of funds for that purpose, BE':I' NOWi RESOLVED), that the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Kentucky, ratify and confirm all that the said Committee and its assistants have heretofore done in regard to soliciting and collecting such subscriptions for said purposes, and ratify and confirm the acts done by the President of the University of Kentucky in reference to said matter. 7. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That in order that the work of constructing said memorial should proceed, and that a proper and suitable location for the building should be selected, IT IS NOW ORDERED, That the University of Kentucky will and does hereby set aside and dedicate a plot of ground for said purpose, said plot of ground being located between the Basketball Building, at present fronting on Winslow Street, and the Armory Building, fronting on South Limestone Street, and near the north corner of the campus, the exact dimensions of such plot to be hereafter set out in detail, after the plans for said building shall have been prepared and com- pleted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT SAID BUILDING', thehi bb erected and completed, shall be used for a memorial to the honored dead of Kentucky, who gave their lives in the service of their country in the war with Germany and its allies; and shall be used for such purposes of the University and its students as shall not be inconsistent with a memorial build- ing; and shall be maintained in proper order and condition by the University from the time of its completion. 4. Site for Western Sub-experiment Station. The selection of a site for Western agricultural sub-experiment station, author - .ized by act of the General Assembly of 1924, was discussed. Dean Thomas Cooper was authorized to act in acceptance of land, and it was suggested that the title be examined by John C. Gates. 5. The Eastern Sub-experiment Station. Dean Thomas P. Cooper appeared before the Executive Committee and asked direction and advice as to the disposition of the question arising on what is known as the Quicksand lease in connection with the 0. E. Rob- inson grant. Dean Cooper was authorized to get deed and proceed with adjustments as best possible along lines suggested to the Committee. 6. Resignations of Members of Home Economics Faculty. The following resignations .iwere presented and on motion, duly seconded, were accepted with expressions of regret by the members of the Executive Committee: Resignation of Miss IMary E. Sweeney, Head of the Department of Home Economics, in the University and Extension Division, effective June 8, 1924. Resignation of Miss L. Meybelle Cornell, Professor in Home Economics, effective June 8, 1924. Resignation of Miss Marietta Fichelberger, Professor in Home Economics, effective June 8, 1924. 8.- 7. Appointments. The following appointments were recommended by 11resid7ent McVey and, on motion, duly seconded, approved by the Committee: Appointment of L. C. Robinson as assistant professor in Geology, at a salary of $2,000 a year, effective at the beginning of the scholastic year 1924-1925. Mr. Robinson has the degree of bachelor of science from the University of Chicago, and in June of this year will receive the degree of master of science from the same institution. Appointment of Clarence Hill Burrage as forester at the Robinson Sub-experiment Station, at a salary of $2,200 a year, effective July 1, 1924. He holds the degree of bachelor of science from the University of Georgia. Continuation of employment of Ethel Nice as home demonstration agent, Garrard County, Kentucky, from May 1 to July 31, 1924, at a salary of $141 2/3 a month. Continuation of employment of R. V. Trosper as county agent, Breathitt County, Kentucky, from April 1, 1924 to March 31, 1925, at a salary of $141 2/3 a month. Continuation of employment of J. A. Wesson as county agent, -A3.de County, Kentucky, from Maly 1, 1924 to April 30, 1925, at a salary of 0181 1/3 a month. 8.Increase in Salary. Increase in salary of Sergeant Fred Powelfto M00 a month, effective May 1, 1924, was approved by the Executive Committee on recommendation of the President. Respectfully submitted, D. H.
