Collection Overview

Biography / History
Lawyer, historian. Samuel M. Wilson was a Lexington, Kentucky attorney, World War I veteran, writer, church and civic leader, as well as a collector of books and manuscripts. He was the son and grandson of prominent Presbyterian ministers and maintained a life-long membership in Lexington's First Presbyterian Church, serving as ruling elder for many years. One of Wilson's special interests was Kentucky history. After his death in 1946, the majority of his collection went to the University of Kentucky. When Mrs. Wilson died in 1959, the remaining books and manuscripts were added to the library collection.
Scope and Content
The materials in this collection include correspondence, programs, speeches, research notes and clippings related to Samuel M. Wilson's research on the Presbyterian Church in Kentucky.
