- The Dr. Samuel Davis Martin papers (dated 1834-1868; 0.26 cubic feet; 1 box and 1 item) consist of a herd book, an account book, and a diary, documenting Martin's farm and medical practice in Clark County, Kentucky. The herd book includes pedigrees of cattle and swine as well as data concerning the sale of Martin's stock. The account book contains information relating to his medical practice, such as diagnoses, medicines prescribed, and a drug inventory. The diary records the weather, observations on crops, and a monthly summary of public affairs, covering the years 1862-1868. The papers include a digital copy of the diary on CDs.
