"Ashland" Homestead of Henry Clay; The University of Kentucky bought in 1866 and was home of Regent John Bowman, 1866-1878. In 1882, UK sold the Ashland home and farm to Henry Clay McDowell and Anne Clay McDowell and their daughter, Nannette McDowell Bull. When the daughter died in 1948, she gave the house, 20 acres and furnishings to the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation
