"The University of Kentucky's Fine Arts Building is beginning to assume final shape. Construction on the $1,380,000 structure was started slightly more than a year ago. The sprawling building will house the Departments of Art, Music, and the Guignol Theater. The departments and the Theater formerly were in the Art Center that was destroyed by a spectacular fire early in 1947. University officials have classified the building as one of the "most needed" on the campus at Lexington." Received September 14, 1948 from Public Relations

You may come across language in UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center collections and online resources that you find harmful or offensive. SCRC collects materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. These materials document the time period when they were created and the view of their creator. As a result, some may demonstrate racist and offensive views that do not reflect the values of UK Libraries.

If you find description with problematic language that you think SCRC should review, please contact us at SCRC@uky.edu.
