Maude Ward Lafferty served as the first UK Woman's Club president, was also the president of the Woman's Club of Central Kentucky from 1914-1916, and served as chairman of the board of the Kentucky Federation of Woman's Clubs. In 1924, she wrote and directed a sesquicentennial pageant for Harrodsburg and in 1925, one for Lexington.
