The front of this leather diary has the dates of the trip, and the initials of the author, H. Banks. Her travel diary starts on July 4th, 1935 onboard the S.S. President Roosevelt returning from Europe and docking in New York. She spent a few days in New York visiting friends, seeing shows and shopping in Manhattan. From Manhattan, she drove to Baltimore and stayed with friends till she left to drive back to Shelbyville, Kentucky. Banks stayed with her mother in Shelbyville for about a month, and during that month she visited with family members like her sister, cousins, nieces and friends of her mother. While in Kentucky visited distilleries and horse farms. On August 26th, Banks drove to Winthrop, Massachusetts where she lived with other nurses while they work at Fort Banks. Her diary records her routine and nursing duties.
