- Edward Ray Halker, born on September 19, 1921, in Niles, Trumbull, Ohio, to Marjorie and Edward G. Halker, emerged from a lineage rooted in craftsmanship, with his father working as a trade machinist. Halker's academic journey led him to Youngstown State College, where he earned a distinguished Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Post-graduation, Halker embarked on a career trajectory with General Electric, in the Glass Division. In 1942, Halker voluntarily enlisted in the US Army Corps of Engineers, assuming the rank of Captain during World War II. His service was duly recognized with the awarding of the Purple Heart. Following the war's conclusion, Halker resumed his professional pursuits with General Electric. Amidst his professional endeavors, he married Barbara Ann Blatchford, with whom he established a family in Nicholasville, Kentucky, including their son and daughter. Edward Ray Halker died on December 26, 1992.
