Biography / History
Sergeant Edward Stewart Jones served in the United States military during World War I. He was attached to the U.S. Base Hospital Unit 40 (the "Barrow Unit"), which was stationed in England in 1918 and 1919.
Scope and Content
The Edward Stewart Jones correspondence (dated 1918-1919; 0.2 cubic feet; 1 box) consists of letters written mainly from England, by medical corpsman Edward Stewart Jones to his parents living near Lexington, Kentucky during World War I. Some letters were sent from United States camps before and after his unit went overseas. They give a detailed description of Jones' experiences as a medical corpsman.
