EDITORIAL COMMENT

THE 1939 CONVENTION

This issue of the K. N. E. A. Journal is devoted mainly to the
1939 convention program. Teachers and educators are urged to read
it through and make final plans to attend the convention in Louisville
from April 12-15, 1939.

If for any reason, a teacher cannot attend. by all means such a
teacher should send the annual membership fee of $1.00 so as to
receive the proceedings of the meeting which will include the impor-
tant addresses of the convention.

Pres. W. H. Fouse wants this to be the banner year in K. N. E. A.
enrollment Note his article on page 28 of this Journal. This is
his last year and he wants it to be the best year in K. N E. A. history.

Be sure to bring your membership card and badge it you have al»

a modern equipped building with an enrollment of two hundred pu-

an academic curriculum, the following extra-curricula activities are
offered: Hi-Y Club, Mr. A. Dr Puryear, adviser; Girl Reserve Club,

master; Glee Club, Miss Virginia B. Williams, Adviser; Athletics, Mr.

the F. T, A., Mrs. Louise Davis, President.

It was through the generous cooperation of the Hazard Board of
Education lead by Superintendent R. T. Whittinghili and the Works
Progress Administration that this building was erected to help pros
mote equal educational opportunities for the Negro youth in this ic-
cality. Profit Karl Walker is the principal of this progressive school.
