Scope and Content
The Eula Jameson letters (dated 1907-1909, 1919, undated; 0.03 cubic feet; 3 folders) comprise letters sent to Eula Jameson from her parents and friends that document life in Kentucky in the early twentieth century. The letters from her parents discuss daily life at home, their hopes she will enjoy her time at school, repairing and sending her clothing, visiting with friends and family, attending church, feeling lonesome when Eula's father is away on business, advice on how to handle inter-personal problems, personal health, local gossip, and the daily weather. Letters from friends discuss gossip, romances, spending time with other classmates, travel, holiday plans, rooming situations, and attending social events. There are also two letters in the collection from Eula's father to her mother, with him writing about how much he wishes he could see her.
The Eula Jameson letters collection is part of the Wade Hall Collection of American letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
