Collection Overview

Biography / History
Robert Penn Warren was born in Guthrie, Kentucky in 1905. He was educated in public schools, graduated from Vanderbilt University and was a Rhodes Scholar. He was a professor of English and playwriting at several American universities. A writer of novels, plays and poetry, Warren received numerous awards, including Pulitzer prizes for both fiction and poetry. He was named Poet Laureate of the United States in 1986.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of nineteen letters and postcards written by Robert Penn Warren to his copy-editor at Random House, Bert(ha) Krantz. The letters include mention of professional matters, medical appointments, and family members.
