A an • ‘ • [Brun`-., . ° ° ° V if /··"' é . ’/€£>&c.-=tt.¤»z;.. · ARL PRESERVATION PLANNING PROGRAM STUDY " The UK Libraries will soon be involved in a system—wide preserva- tion self-study which is expected to last from six to nine months and will result in an overall preservation plan. with the assis- tance of a consultant, Michelle Cloonan, Preservation Librarian at Brown University, a library preservation study team and a number of task forces will be formed to gather information and _ prepare reports on such issues as environmental conditions, phy- sical condition of the collections, organization for preserva- tion, disaster control, preservation resources, staff and user , education, and inter-institutional cooperation. _ In 1989, the UK Libraries were chosen by the Association of Re- i search Libraries' Office of Management Services to conduct the consultant-assisted Preservation Planning Program. The program typically lasts from six to nine months and will involve two to ` three visits from the preservation expert assigned to us by ARL. The Library Staff Organization's annual Valentine's Day Bake Sale will be held wednesday, February 14, on the third floor of King North in the staff lounge beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be a variety of baked goods for_sale at reasonable prices, as well as _ coffee and tea. During the bake sale, a fancy cake will be raf- fled. Kathy Noland will be sending a sign-up sheet to each King department and to the branch libraries asking for volunteers to ‘ make the baked goods.
