- Biography / History
- William T. Barry (1785-1835) was born in Virginia and grew up in Kentucky. He served in the Kentucky House of Representatives, 1807; the U.S. House of Representatives, 1810-1811; the U.S. Senate, 1814-1816; the Kentucky Senate, 1817-1821; sixth Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, 1820-1824; Secretary of State of Kentucky, 1824-1825; and, as U.S. Postmaster General, 1829-1835.

- Postmaster General Barry writes to Sherman, son of Connecticut Signer-Framer Roger Sherman, that he will investigate the delay of a letter sent to Sherman.
