Scope and Content
The Dew family letters (dated 1926-1959, undated; 0.02 cubic feet; 1 folder) comprise letters sent to Douglas, Thelma, and Roderick Dew that document the activities of the family and their friends and relatives in the mid-twentieth century. The first letter in the collection is addressed to Thelma and Doug. It discusses the death of Douglas's father, and the faith that his uncle places in him to be as good a businessman as his father was. The remainder of the letters are addressed to Thelma and Roderick after Douglas passed away. They discuss Roderick's education, personal health, social visits from friends and family, wedding announcements, funerals, and thanks for gifts and cards.
The Dew family letters are part of the Wade Hall Collection of American letters, which includes correspondence and diaries from all over North America covering the time period of the Civil to Korean Wars. The materials were collected by Wade Hall and document everyday men and women.
