Biography / History
Genealogist. Julia Hoge Spencer Ardery devoted many years to collecting genealogical data on Kentucky and Virginia families on behalf of historical organizations in Kentucky.
Scope and Content
These papers consist of genealogical information about families in Kentucky and Virginia as collected and compiled by Julia Hoge Spencer Ardery. Genealogical records compiled by Miss Hattie M. Scott, Miss Jesse P. Spencer and Miss May Stone are also included. Data was derived from newsclippings, military records, historical journals, cemetery records, vital statistics, court records, marriage and census records, and inquires. Some indexing was done with individual files, but there is no inventory or comprehensive index to the collection.
